We are hopefully entering our last wave where we are still a bit on our back foot. The future of this pandemic will be less chaotic, more science based and easier to manage. We need to be cautious, but not paranoid. As I mentioned earlier, most people will get exposed to Omicron, it’s almost inevitable…and getting it does not mean you did something wrong..it means you’re a human in the petri-dish of 21st century life. The good news is that human ingenuity has developed effective vaccines and we are in the precipice of viral treatments. And not that we want more variants, but this might be the one that has the characteristics that provide an offramp to this two year shit-show of uncertainty.

I found an old file called
taglines. For context, Odeo was a podcasting product, and these were likely thought of as being delivered in audio.

Any engineer who has spent years on a complex application knows that you always have a layering challenge. If you pick too low a layer to build on, you end up having to recreate a lot of pre-existing functionality that is not fundamental to your product mission. But if you pick too high a layer, you end up constantly struggling to get it to behave or evolve the way you want; it’s like trying to paint a portrait with a 4 foot paintbrush. 99 out of 100 engineers would prefer to err on the side of picking too low a layer. Of course, idea…
What layer to work at is a question that applies at the engineering, company, and career levels.

Very much looking forward to the end of the wallet. I left my main credit card somewhere during the pandemic. I know its at home, so I haven't bothered replacing it, so it's tipped me over to using Apple Pay whenever possible. And I've definitely left my house many more times recently with no wallet. Curious what the California Highway Patrol does if instead of a drivers license you show them a picture.
